There are two different types of bets on a roulette table where you can bet on 12 numbers in a certain area. These are called a dozen bet or a column bet and both of them are considered to be “outside bets” on a roulette table.
Dozen Bet
The dozen bet can be placed on the 1st dozen, 2nd dozen or 3rd dozen numbers respectively. The image to the left shows a bet being placed on the first dozen numbers.
- 1 st Dozen = numbers 1 to 12
- 2nd Dozen = numbers 13-18
- 3rd Dozen = numbers 19-36
Column Bet
A column bet can be placed at the opposite end of the table to where the single or double zero in found.
You will normally see them marked as “2 to 1″, as indicated in the diagram to the right.
- 1st Column = numbers 1 to 34
- 2nd Column = numbers 2 to 35
- 3rd Column = numbers 3 to 36
